Everyone knows that Diana, Princess of Wales, was a fashion icon, and even inspired the style of future royals, like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. It helped that Diana had access to two of the most sought-after tiaras in the world—the Cambridge Lover's Knot and the Spencer tiara—and looked radiant each time she wore them. The Princess also took some risks with her accessories, even turning choker necklaces into elaborate headpieces. Fans of The Crown will be able to see some of these famous tiara moments reenacted in season four, premiering November 15. But first, take a look back at the real-life princess's stunning tiara collection and her greatest formalwear moments.

One of Princess Diana's most iconic tiara moments was her wedding to Prince Charles. This was the first time Diana got to wear a tiara and she kept to her roots, choosing the Spencer family tiara. This headpiece has been in the Spencer family for centuries, with origins that date back to the 18th century, though the tiara was gifted to Diana's grandmother, Countess Cynthia Spencer, in 1919. The tiara is a combination of an original base alongside some newer additions created by jewelry house, Garrard. This tiara remained one of Diana's favorites for the rest of her life.

Princess Diana continued to wear the Spencer tiara throughout her life. Here, during an official tour of Australia, she paired it with her Royal Order (in yellow, pinned to her dress). Around Diana's neck is the Prince of Wales Feathers Pendant, a gift to Diana from the Queen Mother to mark her engagement to Prince Charles. The pendant contains 18 brilliant-cut diamonds and tiny emeralds surround the Prince of Wales crest.

The tiara was then passed down to Queen Elizabeth II, who then lent it to Diana. Now, the Duchess of Cambridge is often spotted in the intricate, beautiful headpiece.
